KEYSTONE DENTAL LECTUREThis lecture will address known biologic requirements for effective anterior implant design and placement. Although we have been placing crown-type restorations on implants for about 20 years now, there are some incredibly wonderful results to be found, but there are some equally incredible bad results as well. We will start with space, bone, and soft-tissue requirements, move into implant and abutment design, and finally focus on predictable success through a retrospective look at multiple esthetic failures.Learning Objectives: Understand biologic width surrounding natural teeth and how it applies to implantsLearn the difference between "bone level" and "tissue level" implant designs and how soft tissue reacts to these designsDiscover how to visualize implant placement in all three dimensions, how displacement in any axis can have negative results, and how to hide these results if neededKnow when to quit, or better yet, recognize when not to take on a caseRecommended Audience: A, D, H

VOCO AMERICA, INC. LECTUREThe composite resin and glass ionomer sector of the dental materials market has evolved rapidly over the past three years, and new formulations of each are now available for clinical use. These materials enable dental professionals to provide their patients with remarkable esthetic results and eliminate tooth sensitivity. Successful and predictable placement of these materials for anterior and posterior restorations can require hands-on experience. In today's fast-paced and rapidly changing climate, clinicians must choose between composite and glass ionomer systems based on artistic capabilities and an ideal dentin replacement. Both of these issues have recently been addressed by introducing a composite system, Grandio 2, consisting of 16 shades, providing the capability of replicating the most complex characteristics of tooth structure using a more simplistic approach to layering concepts for use in anterior and posterior clinical restorations.Learning Objectives: Understand the properties of glass ionomer and the concept of dentin substitutionLearn the benefits of using glass ionomer restorative materialsDiscover how to properly handle and layer compositesRecommended Audience: A, D, H, T
