Nathan Wolsky, is the COO of Dental IT Solutions, Inc. a leading firm of Dental IT and proactive managed services in New England.
This course is simple and will explore the tools to begin the path of digital compliance, specifically HIPAA, HITECH, and WISP. Attendees will minimize concerns about losing patient data, damage to practice’s reputation, and the threat of business-crippling federal fines. Dental practices are arguably the most technology dense medical environments, yet lag significantly behind in achieving digital compliance. This is due to complicated regulations, a lack of clear audit requirements, a wrongly perceived image of IT as an expense, rather than an asset, and an overall lack of industry knowledge on how compliance relates to a dental practice. Most practices have digital security more closely resembling a residential network than that of a true health care provider. By the end of this course, attendees will be left with a handful of key points and the start of an action plan.
After this course attendees will be able to:
  • Understand how to design a data security plan and path to compliance
  • Assess how compliances impact your practice—HIPAA, WISP, PCI, Sarbanes-Oxley, and more
  • Review how to avoid being posted on Health and Human Services’ “Wall of Shame”
  • Identify best practices to avoid crippling fines and consequences
  • Determine how compliance is much more than encrypting email
  • Analyze how proper IT curtails compliance concerns and is critical to HIPAA
Recommended Audience: Dentist, Office
