Julie Whiteley, RDH is a wellness coach, speaker, consultant, published writer, adjunct clinical instructor, and human resources specialist with 17 years experience in private practice, and over 10 years as a faculty member at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences University/Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene. Ms.Whiteley designs, develops, and delivers dental hygiene training programs and seminars and works with private practices in areas of dental hygiene consulting and practice management.

Have you experienced hand pain as a result of dental hygiene practice? Do you worry about the affect it could have on the longevity of your career and your ability to earn a living? This course is geared toward hygienists wanting to learn more about the risks, habits, and working conditions that threaten our careers and quality of life. It is designed to empower the hygienist with prevention strategies and practices to promote hand health.

After this course attendees will be able to:
  • Recognize the signs, symptoms, and risks for the most common hand conditions in dental hygiene
  • Summarize work techniques, practices and non-work behaviors associated with hand and wrist pain
  • Assess the financial and career impact of hand injuries to the dental hygienist
  • Illustrate proper patient operator positioning, grasp, fulcrum, and instrumentation techniques to aid in the prevention of injury
  • Practice specific exercises to use chairside to stretch and strengthen hands
