Kai Claussen, PhD is a product developer at 3M Oral Care. He received his Ph.D. in polymer science in 2013 from the University of Bayreuth, located in Germany. His focus at 3M has on dental cements, specifically resin cements, glass ionomers and resin modified glass ionomer cements. His research is focused on the development of new formulations and redox initiators to improve mechanical and esthetic properties, as well as the simplification of the cementation procedure.
Christoph Thalacker, PhD is a senior product developer at 3M Oral Care. He received his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry in 2001 from the University of Ulm, located in Germany. His focus at 3M is on adhesives and filling composites. Christoph has been the head of adhesives R&D since October 2010. He has published in numerous peer-reviewed journals, has presented at numerous conferences internationally and has 26 published patent families.

This course will highlight how 3M is taking universal adhesives and universal cements to the next level. The course will focus on how the category of current universal adhesives was created, and on new features of 3M™ Scotchbond™ Universal Plus Adhesive. Results from the first in vivo field evaluation will be shared, which included over 300 doctors in the US and Europe. Also discussed is how the new universal cement addresses customer pain points with existing resin cements while simplifying the resin cement workflow.
