Russell Kane, joined Dental Office Compliance of New England (DOC4NE) in August 2021 after a 25 year legal and compliance career, most recently at a global asset management firm where he served as a mutual fund chief compliance officer for 10 years and the firm's Global Counsel for 5 years. He has extensive experience with helping clients understand applicable laws and regulations and drafting required policies and procedures. Russell received his BA from Columbia University and his JD from New York University School of Law.

Participants in this course will walk away with an understanding of what is HIPAA and why they need to understand it, what is Protected Health Information and how/where it can be used, as well as what should be included in a practice's Notice of Privacy Practices. This course will also help you understand the roles and responsibilities of a practice's Privacy Officer and Security Officer, HIPAA enforcement penalties and examples of Real-Life HIPAA compliance issues and how a practice can best mitigate risks.

  • Compare how their procedures conform to HIPAA requirements
  • Discuss potential gaps in their HIPAA compliance program
