Some of the most common misunderstandings dental professionals face stem from how to use social media in a HIPAA compliant manner. To do so, Employees must be properly trained on how to use social media. Without adequate employee training, your organization may be subject to fines due to the misuse of social media. Whether your practice uses Facebook to attract new clients or your employees post about their workday on Twitter, improper use of social media can lead to major HIPAA violations. With the widespread use of smartphones and access to apps like Instagram and Snapchat, these violations are more frequent than ever before. The question becomes: How can your practice use social media without violating HIPAA? Learn how your employees can use social media ethically, while protecting your practice from HIPAA violations.
