Associate Agreements and Practice Ownership
Justin Marti, Esq co-founded a DSO in Boston that grew to 40 locations before being sold to a private equity group in 2018. Along the way, he became a licensed Attorney, practicing in the areas of healthcare and business, with a focus on the dental industry. Justin’s experience in building and scaling his own DSO gives him the rare ability to think like a true entrepreneur and business operator, as opposed to merely another lawyer. He has constructed complex DSO entities and negotiated myriad practice purchases and sales, as well as Associate Agreements for newer providers unfamiliar with the business landscape of the dental industry. He likes to say that he is an “advisor first, Attorney second."
In this course, dental students, recent graduates and experienced practitioners alike will gain exposure to real-world considerations for joining an existing practice or starting their own. Beyond delivering great patient care, new providers must navigate the complex world of employment agreements, non-competes and other legal issues. For those seeking to go a step further and open their own practice, they must also consider elements such as staffing and commercial leasing. This course is intended to offer guidance to both the new dentist and the experienced practitioner, helping to position them for long-term success.
