Prosthodontic Symposium
Aram Kim, DMD, MS is a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and an associate prosthodontist at Boston Children’s Hospital Department of Dentistry. She is also an Assistant Professor at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
PROSTHODONTIC CONSIDERATIONS FOR PEDIATRIC AND YOUNG ADULT PATIENTS
The course will focus on assessing and treating the pediatric and young adult patients with congenital and acquired dental conditions with prosthodontic needs for missing teeth and soft-tissue replacement. Special considerations and challenges for prosthodontic treatment in growing patients will be discussed. Clinical cases of congenital and acquired dental and craniofacial anomalies with conventional and modern treatment modalities including digital dentistry will be presented. Included in this course will be a review of the literature on dental implants in young patients in regard to ideal timing, multidisciplinary approach, and complications.
- Identify unique considerations for prosthodontic treatment for pediatric, adolescent patients, and young adults with special needs
- Recognize craniofacial development and assess appropriate timing of dental implants for pediatric patients
- Understand congenital conditions with dental implications and assess prosthodontic treatment options and quality of life improvement
- Assess and provide prosthodontic treatment for acquired dental conditions such as trauma and cancer in young patients
