Yankee Study Club Presents: Real-World Dentistry: A Day in the Life
Mario Abdennour, DMD has held a faculty appointment as clinical instructor and lecturer at the Advanced Graduate Endodontic Program at Harvard School of Dental Medicine since 2000. He was the recipient of the part-time faculty award at Harvard where he teaches micro-surgical and non-surgical endodontics. Dr. Abdennour practices in the greater Boston area and lectures nationally and internationally in English, French and Spanish on precision based endodontics.
Robert Cauley, DMD originally grew up in a small town in southern Vermont. He graduated with his DMD from Boston University’s School of Dental Medicine in 2014. After working as a General Dentist for two years in Vermont he decided to specialize in Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Rob completed his Pediatric Residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, where he served as Co-Chief Resident. He currently practices full time in Lowell, MA.
Timothy Hempton, DDS is an Adjunct Associate Clinical Professor at Tufts University, a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and the recipient of the 2011 Yankee Dental Congress Clinician of the Year award. He maintains a private practice Limited to Periodontics and Dental Implants in Dedham, MA.
Connie Kugel, RDH has over 20 years of experience in clinical dental hygiene, marketing, education, and research. She has worked for several dental manufacturers, and is currently director of education at the Boston Center for Dental Education.
Gerard Kugel, DMD, MS, PhD is an associate dean of research and a professor of at the department of prosthodontics and operative dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He also maintains a private practice in Boston, MA.
Carl McManama, DDS is a Professor in the Department of General Dentistry and course director for several courses at Boston University’s Goldman School of Dental Medicine where he has taught since 1976. In addition to his teaching, he has maintained a private practice in Cambridge, Massachusetts for the past forty-five years. Dr. McManama has presented over 100 CE courses on topics related to restorative and operative dentistry to all levels of dental audiences.
Maritza Morell, DMD is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist, a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and a Public health Dentist. Dr. Morell is the Mass Dental Society region six Trustee. She is a Senior Clinical Associate in Pediatric Dentistry at the Boston Children’s Hospital and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine since 1999. In addition, she owns 2 pediatric dentistry and orthodontics private practices in Andover and Lawrence, Massachusetts.
Join the Founders of the Yankee Study Club as they embark on a hypothetical day in the life of a busy general dentist. The moderator will describe several common patient problems. The panel of Founders will then discuss each scenario and determine a logical solution to these problems based on science and years of real-world clinical experience. Examples are: managing post-operative sensitivity, options for crown materials in 2023, elastic versus digital impression techniques, treating a failing implant, when to start seeing pediatric patients, interdisciplinary care of geriatric patients, periodontal swelling, and much, much more!
