Beyond Nitrous: Alternative Sedation Techniques in the Dental Office
Lily Hu, DMD is a board-certified dentist anesthesiologist. She earned her Doctorate in Dental Medicine Degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and completed her anesthesia training at Stony Brook University Hospital. She serves as the director of Anesthesia and Pain Control at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and a director on the American Dental Board of Anesthesiology. Dr. Hu specializes in providing mobile ambulatory anesthesia services to dental offices throughout the New England area, bringing a safe and customized anesthesia plan for all dental patients, including pediatric, special needs, and adult patients who are medically complex.
Safe and effective anxiety and pain control is an essential aspect of dental care. The use of sedation can help many patients access dental care who are otherwise unable to due to fear, anxiety, age, special needs, and medical conditions. This course will provide an in depth review on methods for improving local anesthesia success, various anesthetic modalities utilized for dental treatment, factors in determining an appropriate anesthetic plan, and strategies on implementing safe and effective sedation options in the dental office.
