Heather Keeling, DDS is a graduate of Dalhousie School of Dentistry in Halifax, Nova Scotia. She owns a private practice, The Dental Loft, in Portland, Maine. Dr. Keeling is actively involved in organized dentistry and is currently the Immediate Past President of the Maine Dental Association and Long-Term Delegate. When she is not busy doing all things dentistry she enjoys spending time with her husband Matt, and two King Charles Cavaliers, Charlie and Lilly.

Mina Kim, DDS received her B.A. from Barnard College and returned to Columbia University College of Dental Medicine to obtain her dental degree. She did her residency training at New York Methodist Hospital. She is President-Elect of the New York County Dental Society and co-founder of the Woman to Woman Dentists Network with Dr. Lois Jackson. Other leadership positions include serving on committees, councils and advisory boards of the American Dental Association, New York State Dental Association, Columbia University College of Dental Medicine, NYU College of Dentistry and the Korean American Association of Greater New York. She is a fellow of the American College of Dentistry, the International College of Dentistry and the Pierre Fauchard Academy.

Rebekah Lucier Pryles, DMD is a clinical endodontist at Upper Valley Endodontics in White River Junction, Vermont. She is active in organized dentistry, and served as the most recent president of the Vermont State Dental Society. She teaches at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. She has published extensively, including the textbook "Endodontics: A Study Guide." Together with Dr. Brooke Blicher, she co-founded Pulp Nonfiction Endodontics, an educational collaborative grounded in evidence-based continuing education, and has lectured nationally and internationally.

Janis Moriarty, DMD is a 1994 graduate of Tufts Dental School. She maintains a private general practice in Winchester MA . She has served all levels of the tripartite with highlights being MDS President in 2019-2020, First District Secretary/Treasurer from 2015-2019, General Chair of Yankee Dental Congress in 2011, and current First District representative to the ADA Council on Membership. She is a 2018 graduate of the ADA IDL. She is a Trustee of Tufts University, a member of the Dental Board of Advisors, and past President of the Tufts Dental Alumni Association.

Amrita R. Patel, DDS grew up in Chappaqua, New York, and graduated from the New York University College of Dentistry in 2011 before completing a general practice residency at the Nassau University Medical Center. Dr. Patel is a general dentist in private practice with her father, endodontist Dr. Rohit Z. Patel, in Westchester County, New York. She was amongst the recipients of the ADA 10 under 10 award in 2021, given to ten new dentists from around the country for their impact in the profession.

Michael Saba, DMD graduated from Temple Dental school in 2014. During his time at Temple, he acted as president of his chapter. In 2014, Dr. Saba won ASDA delegate of the year award. After graduating, he continued on to ADA new dentist committee and first ever new dentist voting member of ADA's council of dental practice. Currently, he sits on ADA's Council of Dental Practice and Dental Quality Assurance's executive board Dr. Saba owns a 3 dental offices: 2 private group dental practices and a pediatric dental office in NJ. He has a keen interest in implant dentistry and is a fellow of ICOI and eligible for diplomate.

This course is intended as both a panel presentation and interactive discussion focusing on the role of leadership for new dentists in both professional and personal capacities. Panelists are esteemed leaders throughout the region and across the country. They represent a wide variety of perspectives, including private practice owners who initiated start-ups and purchased existing practices; associates; specialists; and leaders in organized dentistry.

After this course attendees will be able to:
  • Discuss time management strategies to facilitate leadership development while maintaining personal activities and clinical practice
  • Understand existing leadership structure and opportunities on multiple levels, including within the dental practice and on local, state, and national platforms
  • Identify potential mentors and recognize how to develop sustainable mentor-mentee relationships
