Tiago Amaral, DDS, MSc is a Specialist in Periodontology, graduated from the University Internacional de Cataluña, Spain, where he is currently doing his PhD program and also teaches at the Post Grad program in Periodontology at the University of Lisbon - Portugal.

Federico Ausenda, DDS, MSc graduated dental school from the University of Florence in Italy in 2013. He obtained his certificate in periodontology from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine here in Boston in 2016. He than attended an ITI scholarship at Eastman Dental Hospital in Rome. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and an ITI Fellow. He maintains a private practice in Milan, Italy and is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and an Assistant Professor at the University of Milan.

Paul Levi, DMD is a diplomate of the American Academy of Periodontology and an associate clinical professor at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He maintains a private practice in VT.

This unique workshop is a combined lecture and hands-on course. We will answer the questions stated below and allow time for an open dialogue between the attendees in order to share information and clinical experiences. This course will include an opportunity for the participants to use a variety of dental plaque removal devices including manual and electric toothbrushes, interproximal brushes, dental floss, rubber tips and other aids.

In this course attendees will:
  • Identify the two main dental diseases that patients need to try to prevent and know their causes
  • List four things that need to be taught to patients to prevent dental diseases
  • Discover evidence-based chair-side dental plaque removal technique recommendations to assist patients in preventing/controlling dental diseases
  • Recognize when, in a comprehensive treatment plan, these techniques should be employed
