This introductory course explores the role of forensic odontology within the broader field of forensic science. Attendees will learn the fundamentals of dental identification, age estimation, and bite mark analysis, along with the recognition of human abuse and neglect. The course highlights the forensic odontologist’s contributions to medico-legal investigations, emphasizing collaboration with law enforcement and medical examiners. By the end, attendees will understand how dental evidence supports human identification and justice in forensic contexts.

After this course attendees will be able to:
- Explain the fundamental principles and scope of forensic odontology within the field of forensic science
- Discuss basic methods of dental identification
- Identify basic age estimation techniques and methods of dental identification to forensic cases
- Apply basic bite mark analysis to forensic cases
- Recognize indicators of human abuse and neglect through dental and oral evidence
- Describe the role and responsibilities of the forensic odontologist in medico-legal investigations and interdisciplinary collaboration
