The suffering caused by chronic dry mouth is vastly underestimated, often dismissed as a minor inconvenience rather than the serious health threat it truly is. Xerostomia or dryness of the oral cavity is now affecting 1 out of every 4 adults and has become one of the most common oral health pathologies. Advances in medicine prolonging lifespan, over 1100 drugs that are classified xerogenic, the growing use of CPAP machines, the rapid rise in diabetes, and HPV-driven head and neck cancers are among the contributing factors. The lack of saliva puts today’s patient in an extremely vulnerable state, significantly compromising their oral health, comfort, and overall well-being. The dental community have struggled to find effective, science-based solutions to offer to those who are suffering in silence until now. Be armed with transformative solutions to combat the silent struggle of xerostomia for so many of your patients. Walk away with the knowledge and tools to not just acknowledge, but truly address the devastating effects of xerostomia—transforming patient care and restoring quality of life. Your patients are counting on you.
