This unique course combines interactive discussion and hands-on activities to explore the expanding world of ultrasonic debridement for the treatment of oral inflammation. Emphasis will be placed on treatment planning and technique as participants are given the opportunity to use variety of magnetostrictive ultrasonic inserts on typodonts to calibrate and expand their skill set.

Speakers

In this course attendees will:

  • Using typodonts and magentostrictive ultrasonic instruments, demonstrate a variety of technique elements that can improve clinical outcomes
  • Create ultrasonic instrument treatment plans specific to clinical scenarios requiring the disruption and removal of biofilm, calculus and/or stain
  • Practice grasp, lateral pressure, active tip orientation, channeling, working stroke and angulation enhancements
  • Compare the use of straight versus curved left and right ultrasonic instruments for anatomically challenging periodontal sites
  • Establish ideal adaption of the ultrasonic active tip around line angles, at the CEJ and in furcations
