Achieving and maintaining peri-implant health is crucial for successful implant therapy. Dental hygienists play a vital role not only in the maintenance of healthy implants but also in managing patients with periimplant disease. This course will cover the steps to achieve peri-implant health, the reasons behind implant complications, and strategies for managing peri-implant disease. To provide a comprehensive understanding of implant outcomes, the program will discuss peri-implant disease classification, disease surveillance, implant maintenance, surgical placement, bone grafting outcomes, prosthetic contours, anatomical considerations, and systemic factors.

After this course attendees will be able to:
- Recognize the factors contributing to stable and esthetic implant outcomes
- Discuss the AAP classification for peri-implant disease and the instrumentation and procedures used in implant maintenance
- Understand the etiology and clinical presentation of problematic implants
- Assess various prosthetic designs that may hinder patient home care
- Learn anatomical concerns and systemic factors related to implant therapy
- Examine the application of 3-D radiographs in implant therapy
