This comprehensive course is designed to equip dental professionals with the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to perform socket preservation procedures effectively following tooth extraction. Through a combination of lecture, case studies, and hands-on components, attendees will explore the biological principles of post-extraction healing, graft material selection, and flap design to preserve alveolar ridge volume and facilitate future restorative success, including implant placement.

In this course attendees will:

  • Understand the biological processes of post-extraction healing and bone remodeling
  • Identify clinical indications and contraindications for socket preservation
  • Evaluate different graft materials and membranes, including allografts, xenografts, synthetic grafts, and collagen membranes
  • Demonstrate surgical techniques for atraumatic tooth extraction and proper socket debridement
  • Perform socket preservation procedures with and without flap elevation
  • Select appropriate materials and techniques based on defect morphology and restorative goals
  • Discuss the timing of implant placement in preserved sockets
