This unique course combines science, live audience polling and clinical demonstrations to explore the expanding world of ultrasonic debridement for the treatment of oral inflammation. In this course, the instructor will focus on optimizing ultrasonic technology for the removal of biofilm, calculus and stain with emphasis placed on how to provide a positive patient experience while increasing the effectiveness and speed of a debridement procedure.

  • Define modern-day periodontal therapy goals and review the latest research on ultrasonics, air polishing, and manual instruments
  • Compare ultrasonic tips differences and understand how to select the best tip designs for various scaling situations within your dental hygiene appointment
  • Explain how the three A’s of ultrasonic techniques can create an effective or ineffective ultrasonic procedure
  • Understand why the calculus doesn’t always come off
  • Identify the components of a periodontal therapy workflow and consider what protocols will work best for you, your team, and your patients
