In this course, attendees will be presented with a brief history of infections, followed by a summary of orofacial infection workup, diagnosis and surgical management. Case studies will be presented, emphasizing the importance of the timeliness of care and proper airway management. Pertinent facial anatomy will be reviewed, as well as medical and surgical treatment. Proper radiographic workup will also be presented, including plain films and CT scan. Importance will be placed on prompt diagnosis and treatment.

After this course attendees will be able to:
- Explain the importance of timely treatment of odontogenic infections
- Recognize the most common fascial spaces involved with odontogenic infections
- Understand what entails a proper workup for suspected infection
- List the most common radiographic studies used for proper infection diagnosis
- Compare and contrast the most common and effective antibiotics used for orofacial infections
- Describe the various surgical approaches to the facial skeleton when treating infections
- Review the decision tree for outpatient versus inpatient infection management
- Identify when it is appropriate to treat versus refer to a specialist
