Dr. Melo Herrera is a bilingual, mixed-methods researcher focusing on developing and testing community-engaged interventions to increase access to health-promoting foods and diet quality among families with low income, including those participating in the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). Her work is driven by a deep commitment to reducing health disparities in communities experiencing disadvantage and advancing inclusive excellence within the research and the dietetics field.
