Managing Simple and Complex Restorations Predictably  


Direct posterior composite restorations are part of everyday dentistry due to their esthetic and  conservative qualities as well as their artistic potential, but they also present their own set of challenges. Restoration techniques and materials have significantly evolved, now offering solutions even in complex situations. This course, based on scientific evidence, will present several clinical cases, step by step, demonstrating successful and predictable direct posterior restoration cases, ranging from simple to complex.

In this course attendees will:

  • Establish a diagnosis and treatment plan based on the clinical situation
  • Evaluate indications for remineralization or direct restoration
  • Treat deep caries lesions to maintain pulp vitality
  • Select cases for direct restoration versus indirect restoration
  • Achieve ideal preparation, conservatively, to reduce the occurrence of white lines
  • Perform adhesion using techniques to optimize the seal and minimize the risk of postoperative sensitivity
  • Select a matrix system to create restorations with optimal anatomy, no overhang and strong interproximal contacts
  • Use materials based on recent developments and according to scientific evidence
  • Master different operative techniques and insert while reducing the risk of voids
  • Manage various daily challenges such as restorations with deep margins, missing cusps and back-to-back restorations
