Large carious lesions can present as a restorative challenge. These complex carious lesions can be difficult for clinicians to tackle using traditional "extension for prevention" techniques taught in most dental schools. Through this course, attendees will learn techniques for managing deep carious lesions, preserving pulp vitality during caries excavation, and utilizing deep margin elevation techniques to make the process of treating large carious lesions simpler and more predictable.
Speakers
After this course attendees will be able to:
- Implement a proper endodontic diagnosis for teeth with large carious lesions
- Determine whether a tooth requires endodontic treatment before being restored
- Develop restorative approaches to saving teeth with a questionable prognosis
- Identify when vital pulp therapy can be performed
- Define what deep margin elevation is
- Understand deep margin elevation for subgingival preparations
- Incorporate treatment strategies for saving teeth
