The incidence of dental trauma is highest in the first two decades of life. The young permanent anterior teeth are susceptible. Successful retention of these teeth is paramount to long-term esthetic, function, and health of these young patients. This course reviews the latest guidelines by IADT and AAE, treatment options, and prognosis for each type of injury based on the biological goals, and current literature is discussed.

- Review the biological sequelae of some select dental traumatic injuries
- Evaluate treatment aims based on current guidelines to maximize positive outcomes
- Recognize possible future treatment trends in dental trauma
