This hands-on course is designed to help dental assistants and other team members feel more confident and comfortable with taking dental impressions. We’ll focus on practical techniques that can be used right away in everyday clinical settings. Attendees will review different materials and tray options, learn how to avoid common mistakes, and get plenty of time to practice. The goal is to make impression-taking more predictable, efficient, and less stressful for both the clinician and the patient.

Speakers

In this course attendees will:

  • Choose the right impression material and tray for different situations
  • Demonstrate proper mixing, handling, and seating techniques for common impression materials
  • Take accurate impressions using consistent, reliable techniques while keeping patient comfort and infection control in mind throughout the process
  • Identify common errors and understand how to correct them
  • Practice impression techniques on typodont models to simulate real clinical scenarios and improve accuracy and consistency
  • Evaluate completed impressions on models for diagnostic quality, including margins, voids, and material integrity, using established clinical criteria
  • Discuss proper infection control and disinfection protocols to impression materials and trays while working on typodont models during hands-on exercises, in accordance with current guidelines
