Seal the Deal: Advanced Adhesive Dentistry for Predictable Direct and Indirect Restorations
Predictable adhesive dentistry requires more than selecting an adhesive or cemen, it requires a comprehensive understanding of preparation design, dentin management, restorative material selection, surface treatment, and precise bonding protocols.
This course provides clinicians with a complete, evidence-based workflow for achieving predictable outcomes with both direct and indirect restorations. Attendees will explore conservative preparation designs, Immediate Dentin Sealing (IDS), Resin Coating, Deep Margin Elevation (DME), and modern ceramic bonding strategies designed to preserve tooth structure and maximize restorative longevity. This course combines scientific principles, clinical case discussions, procedural videos, and extensive hands-on exercises using typodont models. Attendees will perform IDS, Resin Coating, and Deep Margin Elevation on a prepared posterior tooth, followed by adhesive cementation of a lithium disilicate onlay and zirconia crown.
Special emphasis will be placed on the critical steps required for long-term adhesive success, including dentin substrate management, restoration surface treatment, contamination control, selection of contemporary resin cements, and evidence-based bonding protocols for lithium disilicate and zirconia restorations.
By the conclusion of the course, attendees will have practiced a complete adhesive workflow they can immediately implement in clinical practice allowing them to confidently preserve tooth structure, simplify restorative procedures, and deliver more predictable long-term outcomes for their patients.

In this course attendees will:
- Apply conservative preparation principles by practicing and reviewing adhesive onlay preparation designs on typodont models
- Perform Immediate Dentin Sealing (IDS), Resin Coating, and Deep Margin Elevation techniques on typodont teeth to optimize the dentin substrate, improve bond durability, and reduce postoperative sensitivity
- Develop a predictable adhesive workflow by integrating preparation design, substrate management, isolation, and evidence-based bonding protocols
- Execute adhesive cementation protocols for modern ceramic restorations by completing hands-on bonding of a lithium disilicate onlay
- Integrate evidence-based zirconia bonding protocols by performing hands-on surface treatment and cementation of a zirconia crown while managing restorative surface contamination
- Identify and troubleshoot common factors that compromise adhesion, including contamination, inadequate surface treatment, and improper bonding techniques
- Implement a repeatable adhesive dentistry protocol that improves restoration longevity, efficiency, and clinical predictability
