Peixi Liao, BDS earned his BDS degree from Sun Yat-Sen University in 2012 and his Doctor of Science Degree in Dentistry from Boston University in 2018. After he finished his prosthodontics residency at Boston University, he joined the faculty at Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine as a Clinical Associate Professor of Postdoctoral Prosthodontics. He is now the Chair-elect of the American Dental Education Association Prosthodontics Section, Vice president-elect of the International Association of Dental Research Prosthodontics Section, and Secretary of the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research Boston Section. Dr. Liao has numerous professional interests, including AI and VR dentistry. He is the course founder of the Digital Dentistry of Prosthodontics, co-founder of Vision Dentistry Cooperation, and the reviewer of JP, JPD, IJP, etc. He is also an active presenter, lecturing both nationally and internationally on digital dentistry.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has significantly advanced in various fields, and dentistry is no exception. AI technology has the potential to revolutionize the dental industry by improving diagnostics, treatment planning, patient care, and practice management. The lecture summarizes how AI is utilized in dentistry and reviews the pathway to building up a clinical assistant AI program from a dentist prospect. This lecture will focus on the dentist’s role in developing new AI programs and help dentists understand the benefit and challenge of this procedure.
