The LGBTQIA2S+ community represents a notable yet disadvantaged population and as dental providers we can play a pivotal role for ensuring inclusive and equitable care. LGBTQIA2S+ people are present across society and it is imperative to recognize this underserved community, increase visibility and care for the population. Ultimately the dental treatment for this population is not that different from the average patient; it is the approach. It is critical to be up-to-date on the latest terminology and concepts which are constantly evolving as the LGBTQIA2S+ community gains visibility. This course will provide you with an armamentarium of knowledge to provide more inclusive, respectful and equitable care for a diverse population.

After this course attendees will be able to:
  • Review LGBTQIA2S+, DEI concepts, and terminology
  • Recognize the difference between sex and gender
  • Describe considerations for LGBTQIA2S+ youth and minors
  • Identify LGBTQIA2S+ stigmas, disparities, and social determinants of health
