Mitchell Levine, DMD Dr. Levine is the President of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and an associate professor of orthodontics at St. Louis University. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics and the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Prior to joining academia, Dr. Levine spent many years in private practice in Jacksonville, Florida where one third of his practice was related to treating sleep-disordered breathing. Dr. Levine served as chair of the task force that wrote the AADSM's Dental Sleep Medicine Standards for Screening, Treating and Managing Adults with Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders, was a member of the task force that developed the consensus recommendations on Identifying the Appropriate Therapeutic Position of an Oral Appliance, and serves as a faculty member of the AADSM Mastery Program. He was also co-author of the Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Orthodontics: An American Association of Orthodontists White Paper.

Kevin Postol, DDS Dr. Postol is the president-elect of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and maintains a dental sleep medicine and TMD practice in St. Louis, MO. He belongs to the American Dental Association, the Missouri Dental Association, the Greater St. Louis Dental Society, and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Postol served as a member of the task force that wrote the AADSM's Dental Sleep Medicine Standards for Screening, Treating and Managing Adults with Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders and serves as a faculty member of the AADSM Mastery Program.

Screening and treating patients with sleep apnea is a sure-fire way to differentiate your general dental practice from others. Dentists are in a unique position to be able to help patients, but there are a few things to know as you get started. This session will focus on 4 elements that you should consider before screening and treating patients with sleep apnea.

  • Review cases where oral appliance therapy improved patients' quality of life
